The RPII is the competent authority in relation to the protection of workers and members of the public from the harmful effects of exposure to ionising radiation. By law, all practices which use radioactive sources and/or irradiating apparatus (such as an X-ray unit) must hold a valid licence from the RPII, unless they have been exempted.
In this section of our website you will find everything that current and prospective licensees need to know, including how to apply for a licence and an outline of all the regulations and guidance material you need to be aware of.
