The RPII offers the following dosimetry services
The RPII provides a dosimetry service for monitoring an individual's exposure to ionising radiation in the workplace.
We supply three types of dosemeter each with its own specialised capabilities:
- Panasonic 802AT Wholebody Thermoluminescent Dosemeters (whole body TLD)
- Panasoic 807 Extremity Thermoluminescent Dosemeters (extremity TLD)
- Neutron Monitoring (PADC) Dosemeters supplied by the UK Health Protection Agency
We provide solutions for:
- Monitoring the whole body
- Monitoring the extremities, such as hands and feet
- Determining the quantity of radiation exposure
- Identifying the type of radiation exposure
- Monitoring radiation specifically from neutrons.
Dosemeters can be issued for use over two, four or eight weeks depending upon the likelihood of exposure. The timescales for processing the results are:
- Whole body monitoring – 5 days
- Extremity monitoring – 15 days
- Neutrons monitoring – 28 days.
In emergencies, whole body and extremity monitoring can be supplied with same-day turnaround.
