Radioactivity Monitoring of the Irish Environment 2008
This report presents the results of the RPII’s environmental radioactivity monitoring programme for 2008. This monitoring programme aims to: Assess the exposure of the Irish population to artificial radioactivity in the environment; Review the temporal and geographical distribution of contaminating radionuclides; Maintain systems and procedures which would allow a rapid assessment of environmental contamination to be made in the event of a radiological emergency.

Guidelines on the protection of the unborn child during diagnostic medical procedures
This document, produced by the RPII in collaboration with the Faculty of Radiologists, the Medical Council of Ireland, the Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy, the Irish Nuclear Medicine Association and the Association of Physical Scientists in Medicine, provides a concise summary of the actions to be taken when dealing with women of childbearing age who present for diagnostic medical procedures that use radiation. The guidelines are written in accordance with current legislation and RP 100 as approved by the Medical Council.
